If you’re tired of your daily commute and want to travel in style, try some of these forms of transportation for exploring the Main Line.

By Air

Get a unique perspective with a hot air balloon tour by Air Ventures. This Chester County-based company offers rides in bright, neon colored balloons. Choose from a one-hour flight and champagne toast or an elevated dinner flight, which provides a full course dinner at a local restaurant. On board, you’re likely to catch glimpses of local wildlife, like birds, foxes and deer. If you are looking to be truly awed, book a flight at sunset and watch the sky change colors.

If hot air balloons aren’t your style, consider taking a helicopter tour of the region. On select Sundays throughout the year, the American Helicopter Museum offers helicopter rides, which offer birds eye views of West Chester.

By Land

Add a touch of whimsy to your historical explanations by taking a stylish green and red trolley from the Valley Forge Encampment Store. These 90-minute tours stop by the Muhlenberg Brigade hut site and George Washington’s original headquarters. Knowledgeable National Park Service-trained tour guides bring history to life as passengers roll through the expansive grounds.

By Water

Get to know the Schuylkill River with Port Providence Paddle. Canoe, kayak or paddleboat your way down the river, and be sure to keep an eye out for wildlife. Scenic views stretch in every direction, and boat trips are offered for various lengths of time. At the end of your trip, stop by the restaurant, Fitz, and reward yourself with a hearty lunch.
