Editorial Internship

Main Line Today offers editorial internships throughout the year for undergraduate and graduate college students. Internships are unpaid, and all interns must receive academic credit. Editorial interns will have the opportunity to write for various sections of the magazine and gain real-world journalistic experience. Interns will work collaboratively with our editorial team on monthly projects, conducting interviews and fact checking stories.

Successful candidates will have a background in journalism, communications or English, along with some experience writing for publications. Less experienced applicants with strong writing skills will also be considered. Familiarity with AP style is a plus.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Researching stories
  • Working with editors on long-term projects
  • Writing for web and/or print

Deadlines:

  • Spring (January – May): Rolling
  • Summer (May – August): Rolling
  • Fall (September – December): Rolling

Digital Internship

Main Line Today offers internship opportunities for students interested in gaining valuable experience writing, editing, and updating content to mainlinetoday.com. Learn how the magazine’s editors relay printed material to the web using search engine optimization, social networking, and multimedia, such as video and photos.

The digital intern reports directly to the digital editor. The ideal candidate possesses strong writing and editing skills, an eye for detail, and a willingness to learn how editors publish stories on the web via social media and an online content management system. All technical training will be provided.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Writing/fact-checking web articles
  • Writing/editing directory listings
  • Creating Instagram Story designs to promote article

Candidate requirements:

  • Strong writing/editing skills (English, writing, and journalism majors preferred)
  • Must be willing to follow directions and ask questions

Internship details:

  • Semester-long internship consisting of 8-15 hours per week (schedule dependent on candidate availability).
  • Candidate may apply for a second semester.
  • All semesters available (summer, fall, winter, spring). Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Marketing & Sales Internship

Main Line Today is offering internship opportunities for college students interested in gaining valuable experience in marketing projects, event management, and sales support. The marketing & sales intern reports into the Sales & Marketing department. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills-written and verbal, general computer skills, and is familiar with the Main Line region and is available to work out of the Newtown Square, PA office. The role will allow for the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in marketing, event planning and execution, and business development.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in coordination of all marketing related efforts.
  • Process information for mailings or promotions.
  • Communicate with sponsors, clients, and prospects on upcoming signature events.
  • Help in planning all upcoming events.
  • Attend and assist at regional events.
  • Help identify new event opportunities to build brand awareness.
  • Research and investigate new social media initiatives relative to our overall marketing efforts and goals.
  • Work on promoting events in the surrounding communities.
  • Help develop and fulfill marketing campaigns.
  • Sales team support.

Candidate requirements:

  • Must receive school credit.
  • Have a solid understanding and interest in marketing and business development.
  • Strong communication skills-written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; social media platforms, Canva, and general computer skills.
  • Available to work occasional weeknight (early evenings).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability for self-transportation.
  • Ability to carry/lift/move up to 40lbs.
  • 3.0 or higher GPA.

Internship details:

  • Fall/Spring semester-long internship consisting of 10-15 hours per week. Summer schedule 15-20 hours per week, based on candidate availability.
  • Candidates may apply for a second semester.
  • All semesters available (summer, fall, winter, spring).
  • For college credit only.

Internships are unpaid and all interns must receive academic credit. During their time, interns will work collaboratively with marketing on special events and varied marketing and sales projects. Interns are expected to adhere to a weekly schedule, which they will set up with their intern advisor, based on their academic schedule.
