May 2013 Pairing: Isabella’s White Sangria and Matador’s Ceviche

Behind the first refreshing taste of both selections is a kick waiting to happen. For the sangria, a splash of rum gives this fruity quaff a bold punch while the ceviche shines in a lime-and-serrano-pepper vinaigrette.

The Sip

Light, pretty and packing a fruity punch, Isabella’s white sangria makes you feel like you’re on a beach in the Mediterranean— instead of a Conshohocken side street. It’s house-made with white Rioja wine, gold rum, and fresh peach and pear purees. There’s also a red sangria available. $8. 382 E. Elm St., Conshohocken, (484) 532-7470, barisabella.com.

The Bite

Matador’s ceviche features fresh calamari, shrimp, crab and scallops, all cured in a lime-and-serrano-pepper vinaigrette. Fresh roasted corn, a hint of cilantro, and house-made guacamole and chips round out this colorful small plate. $10. 110 N. Wayne Ave., Wayne, (610) 688-6282, matadorrestaurante.com.
