After six years in Glenmoore, Linda Ritter has moved her popular home furnishings store, UpHome, Ltd., to a larger space in Malvern—one that allows her to expand her inventory of contemporary and period furnishings, accessories and artwork. “I buy a lot of art from France,” says Ritter. “I frame all the pieces myself.”
Frequent buying trips to France have netted an eclectic mix of art, antiques, pottery and more. “One of the best parts of owning a store is being able to do the shopping for it,” Ritter says.
UpHome also features a line of custom furniture handcrafted by Ritter’s husband, Bryce. His 18th- and 19th-century reproductions are displayed throughout the store, each made using pine (most of it more than 150 years old), square nails and Old World joinery techniques.
Linda and Bryce aren’t the only creative ones in the family: Their son, Kevin, owns Timeless Kitchen Designs. “At our previous store, we had an example of one of his kitchens set up,” says Ritter. “We decided to do the same here.”
