6 Area Restaurant Openings and Closings

Chadds Ford and West Chester welcome new establishments, while other Main Line area spots say goodbye.

First, the good news. The western suburbs are welcoming three new restaurants. Here’s a look:

Now Open

Andiario

This highly anticipated West Chester eatery is officially up and running, helmed by co-cowners Anthony Andiario and Maria van Schaijik. The young couple is serving up an ever-evolving Italian menu. Stop by for dinner Tuesday through Thursday from 5-9 p.m., or on Friday and Saturday from 5-10 p.m. And don’t forget to bring a bottle of your favorite wine.

Coming Soon

Chadds Ford Tavern

While we had originally hoped for an opening as early as January, we’re confident the Chadds Ford Tavern will be well worth the wait. Look forward to the official reopening on April 6. The celebration will feature comfort food, drinks and live music. The party starts at 4 p.m. and goes until 1 a.m.

Liquid Eatery

It’s looking like West Chester is the new breakfast hot spot as we prepare for another addition this summer. Liquid Eatery will feature Miami-inspired tropical, fresh, organic and healthy smoothies and juices, plus smoothie bowls, hand-rolled ice cream and warm donuts. The best part? All products used in the store will be eco-friendly, sustainably sourced and biodegradable. Also expect vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, non-GMO and organic options.

18 N. High St., West Chester, (610) 709-6911.

Closed

Buena Onda

Although this King of Prussia taqueria only opened prior to Thanksgiving, it’s already shut its doors. The owners have not elaborated on the reason, however, it will continue to serve its sustainable and locally sourced seafood with a Mexican twist at its original location at 1901 Callowhill Street in Philadelphia.

Bella Vista

Sandwiched between Suburban Restaurant and Beer Garden and El Pastor in Eagleview Town Center, Italian restaurant Bella Vista has closed shop and, according to its website, will announce a new location soon. In the meantime, renovations are already underway as modern Mexican neighbor El Pastor prepares to expand to the space.

Boxcar Brewpub

A long-time member of the West Chester beer scene, Boxcar Brewpub sent a heartfelt goodbye to its loyal customers, team members and volunteers on Facebook. For years, the small family business created a comfortable gathering space. It will surely be missed.
