Hottest Ticket in Town: Dîner en Blanc

Don’t think about getting tickets to the Thursday, Aug. 23 Dîner en Blanc, it’s already sold out. What is Dîner en Blanc you ask? It’s more or less a chic, outdoor picnic for 1,300 people. The only way you can participate in the event is if you’ve been invited by a previous year’s participant or get a coveted spot on the website’s waiting list.
When Dîner en Blanc made its American debut in New York City last year, more than 31,000 people were on the waiting list for just over 1,000 spots. The location for the event is being kept a secret until just before mealtime, but once announced, diners (all dressed in white) will emerge onto the public outdoor area with their own tables, chairs, food, wine, candles and table decorations for the elegant night ahead. Music, dining and dancing will continue until midnight when guests must depart, leaving the space as perfect as they found it.
Dîner en Blanc, which was founded 24 years ago in Paris, is currently in a dozen cities worldwide and more are expected to join this year. For more information, visit dinerenblanc.info and stay tuned to see where Thursday’s event will take place!
