Isabella Launches New Tomato Menu

From fried green tomatoes to a roasted heirloom gazpacho, tomatoes are in the spotlight.

Thanks to the return of chef Michael Cappon to Isabella’s stoves, the Conshohocken restaurant launches a brand-new seasonal menu celebrating all things tomatoes. Cappon, who once again calls the restaurant home after a six-month hiatus, aims to challenge the lively mod-Med restaurant and its menu.

“It’s an honor to come back to Isabella,” says the chef. “I have learned a tremendous amount about new ingredients—both domestic and abroad, which has renewed my passion and love for food and cooking.”

The Totally Tomato menu is offered for the full month of August. From ultra-fresh options like fried green tomatoes with a sherry-scented shellfish reduction and blue crab salad, to a roasted heirloom gazpacho topped with a dollop of toasted chili crema, the just-picked dishes are enticing and illustrate the best of the season. Also on the tomato-speckled roster is a classic caprese salad, a BLT crafted with goat’s milk feta and lemon-garlic aioli, and braised pork cheeks dancing with a smoked tomato compote.

Cappon will also begin to introduce other new dishes that celebrate the bounty of the summer, including grilled corn drizzled with chili saffron creme and popped with toasted shallots.
