From new Mediterranean eats to an inn revamp, local dining is booming.

Avola Kitchen + Bar

Inspired by a quaint town in Sicily, the owners of Twenty9 Restaurant & Bar, Stephens on State and Lariele Wood Fired Square Pie are delivering this Mediterranean farm-to-table concept with high open ceilings, Edison-light chandeliers, soft soap stone walls with vibrant blue colors to accent the open kitchen and a white quartz bar. Chef de cuisine Chris Godfrey delivers tender homemade pastas, tapas-style dishes and wood-fired pizzas. Find local and West Coast brews on tap.

Brick & Brew

If you’re already a fan of this prohibition-era-themed pub in Havertown and Media, you’ll love its expansion into Malvern. The largest of the trio at over 5,000 square feet, it will feature outdoor dining and a step-down spacious interior floor plan. Expect sippable signature cocktails and crisp oven-baked pizzas. Look for a February 2019 opening.

Juniper Tree Juice and Coffee

Be on the lookout for a mid-September opening of Juniper Tree Juice and Coffee in Chester Springs. Owner Laura Parker will offer healthy options like fresh-squeezed juices, smoothies, acai bowls, protein shakes and wellness shots, in addition to the great coffee she’s been pouring in the original Elverson spot for over a year.

Saxbys West Chester University

Opened at the beginning of August, this student run “experiential learning program cafe” on the campus of West Chester University brings a welcome jolt to the southern part of the borough with a hip and colorful vibe. Coffee, latte and espresso drinks provide that crucial kick for anytime of day.

Yori’s Church Street Bakery

This West Chester staple was closed for several weeks for a mini interior refresh. Now reopened and sporting a new tile backsplash, bright vinyl floors and a fresh coat of paint, we recommend getting back in line for near-legendary in-season peach cake from Dave and Alyssa Yori.
