King of Prussia Town Center, already home to Paladar Latin Kitchen & Rum Bar, Naf Naf Grill, Fogo de Chão, b.good, honeygrow, City Works Eatery & Pour House and Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse, has added another restaurant to the Main Line dining scene.

Mission BBQ officially opened on Jan. 30 with a ceremony hosted by co-founders Bill Kraus and Steve Newton. The ceremony opened with the National Anthem, sung by a local uniformed first responder, and was followed by a ribbon cutting. This is Mission BBQ’s fifth Pennsylvania outpost and 41st overall location.

The menu focuses on classic barbecue, including brisket, pulled pork and ribs, plus sides like mac and cheese, baked beans and coleslaw. The owners are dedicated to giving back to the military and local first responders through charitable organizations.

“It is our mission to give friends and neighbors a place they can feel good about while sitting down to a great meal prepared the American way,” says Newton. “We also believe in giving back to our community, so some of the proceeds from your lunch or dinner could be helping out the same people sitting next to you—local firefighters, police officers or members of our military who have answered the call to defend freedom—through charities that make a difference, for those in need.”

As is tradition with the opening of every Mission BBQ, the King of Prussia location hosted several charity nights throughout the week leading up to the grand opening, with all sales donated to organizations chosen by local police and fire departments in the King of Prussia community, as well as Liberty USO.

Firefighters’ Friends and Family Night, an invitation-only event held on January 25, raised over $2,000 for the Montgomery County Hero Fund. The following night, Police Officers’ Friends and Family Night raised over $1,800 for the Pennsylvania Chapter of C.O.P.S. A third night rounded out their initial fundraising, this time raising over $2,200 for Liberty USO.
