Learn How to Brew Kombucha at this Local Class

The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College will host the event on Feb. 17.

Ever wondered how kombucha is made? Learn for yourself at Slow Food Philadelphia’s kombucha brewing class hosted by Baba’s Brew Kombucha owner Olga Sorzano. The class will take place Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College.

Attendees will learn the basics of fermentation from the Phoenixville-based pro, including how to brew kombucha safely at home. It wouldn’t be a class on kombucha making without some tasting, so expect samples of Baba’s Brew, plus cheese pairings.

“My goal is to educate guests about the magical process of fermentation, the importance of gut health, and the amazing benefits of fermented foods, specifically kombucha,” says Sorzano, who is celebrating her fifth year in business.

Sorzano’s Old World recipe, which has gained popularity throughout the region, was passed down from her great-grandmother, who lived in Siberia. Today, it’s made using local, seasonal and organic ingredients.

Tickets for the class are $25 per person.
