The question, “Sparkling or still?” has taken on a whole new meaning for Brian and Olga Dressler. This month, the couple are celebrating their one year anniversary as operators of Dressler Estate, the Downingtown-based cidery they launched in May 2017. To celebrate, they’ve partnered with other local businesses for a trio of events taking place throughout the borough.
“All three events are an exciting step for us,” says Olga enthusiastically. “We’ve had such great support from the Bottle Room, our friends from East Branch, from so many of the Downingtown shop owners, and from the community.”
These events are a long way from their fermentation experiments in an apartment in Wynnewood. Today they’re on the forefront of Downingtown’s exciting surge as a burgeoning beverage mecca. Get a taste for yourself at these events.
On June 7 from 6-10 p.m., Dressler Estate will release its newest vintage, Great Road, at the Bottle Room (209 Lincoln Highway). This cider has been aging for two months in a Manatawny Still Works whisky barrel and cider lovers can get a taste it, plus Modern Still and Modern Sparkling, along with cider-themed food specials.
Still want more cider? On June 9, the estate will take part in “A Night Under the Stars,” an evening celebration full of activities along the 100 block of Downingtown. Look for vendors, pop-up art galleries, karaoke sing-alongs and, of course, plenty of cider. The night’s activities run from 6-10 p.m. There is no admission to attend and events are pay-as-you-go.
Completing the trifecta, chef Kevin Welch and his team at East Branch Brewing Company (202 E. Lancaster Ave.) honor the Dressler’s by offering an exceptional four-course, gluten-free dinner incorporating pours of the estate’s ciders on June 12. Tickets are $80 per person and space is limited.
