Ripe for Reading

Chadds Ford winemaker Eric Miller crafts an insider’s guide to wine making.

Chaddsford Winery co-proprietor/winemaker Eric Miller can now add “author” to his list of accomplishments, with the publication of his 208-page book, The Vintner’s Apprentice: An Insider’s Guide to the Art and Craft of Wine Making, Taught by the Masters.

The work features interviews with wine masters from the United States, France, Chile, South Africa and Italy, to name a few, plus personal stories and their techniques. Miller writes about how they select, harvest and process grapes, plus how to avoid problems in your own wine making and grape-growing process. The text is paired with 270 stunning, full-color photos. It’s a fabulous gift for a wine lover, but you don’t have to be a connoisseur to appreciate the work that went into it.

Miller will sign copies every Saturday in March during the winery’s “Barrels on the Brandywine” event (1-5 p.m.). For more information or a list of online stores where the book is for sale ($24.99), visit chaddsford.com.
