Beer and Belgian Waffles for Breakfast

The latest food collaboration by this Downingtown brewery brings beer to the breakfast table.

Waffatopia, West Chester’s Belgian waffle purveyor, recently collaborated with Downingtown’s Victory Brewing Company to debut the area’s first-ever beer-infused waffle. Infused with Storm King Imperial Stout, the all-natural waffle combines the roasty, dark chocolate flavors of the award-winning beer with the caramelized Belgian pearl sugar and yeast-risen qualities of the Brussels-inspired dough.

The end result? The Sweet and Stormy Waffle, which debuted Friday, Nov. 14, is a beer lover’s dream come true. Want to sweeten the experience? Take your beer—and waffle—dedication to the extreme by sandwiching a scoop of Victory’s Storm Drop Ice Cream between the waffles.

“We are so fortunate to be able to work with Victory Brewing Company in the creation of this new waffle,” shared Waffatopia’s Co-Chief Waffatier, Brian Polizzi. Brian, along with his wife, Andrea, launched their Belgian waffle brand in April 2013 at Artisan Exchange, specializing in Liège-style waffles that are cast-iron pressed. Additional special edition waffle flavors include Punkin Spice, banana and Nutella, dark Belgian chocolate-stuffed, and—the flavor that started it all—cinnamon-vanilla.
