Maido's Annual Curry Festival Heats Up Ardmore

Ten home cooks will compete for best curry recipe at the restaurant.

Ardmore’s Maido, a Japanese restaurant and grocery store, is hosting its annual Curry Festival on Saturday, Nov. 26, from 1–3 p.m.

Japanese curry is one of the most popular home meals in Japan, differing from other popular curries typically seen in the United States. Maido has three types on its menu—chicken, pork and vegetable. The restaurant is challenging 10 home cooks to serve up their best recipes for prizes and bragging rights. Guests can stop by throughout the competition to get a taste and cast their vote for favorite dish.

Next month, Maido will host another foodie event, its annual Mochitsuki Festival on Friday, Dec. 30. Mochitsuki, the pounding to make rice cakes, is a traditional new year activity in Japan. Mochi-making demonstrations will be among the activities, plus guests can get a taste and shop for special treats.
