Cider, craft beer and wine lovers won’t want to miss the 22nd annual Sippin’ by the River, held on the banks of the Schuylkill River at Manayunk Brewing Company. Taking place on Oct. 1, from 1-5 p.m., the event includes over 100 local vendors, grape stomping, cheese pairings and plenty of sampling.
More than tastings, Sippin’ by the River also ushers in fall with autumn-inspired activities like bobbing for apples and wine bottles, and a pie eating contest. Enjoy the sounds of Philadelphia-based blues soul singer and songwriter Deb Callahan and her band while meandering.
Don’t miss out on the three rounds of competitive grape stomping, featuring six teams of two stomping and collecting grape juice for the chance to win a two-day stay in California wine country with tours at William Hill Estate Winery, Louis M. Martini Winery, MacMurray Estate Vineyards and J Vineyards & Winery.
This year, expect even more room to spread out and mingle with friends. For the first time, attendees will have access to the main venue, top deck, indoor areas, patio and parking lot.
General admission tickets, which are $30, include 30 sampling tickets for wine, ciders and craft beers in a souvenir tasting glass, as well as the option to buy full glasses of your choice of brew for $3 at the bar. It also includes cheese and cracker samplings, craft beer from Manayunk Brewing Company and wine sampling.
VIP admission includes early access, craft beer and cider sampling from Manayunk Brewing Company, a complimentary food item, an exclusive limited release barrel-aged beer sampling and a custom t-shirt.
Designated drivers can purchase a ticket for $15, which comes with a complimentary food item and soft drinks.
This event is rain or shine and will benefit the Chron’s and Colitis Foundation, a volunteer-based nonprofit organization dedicated to finding cures for Chron’s Disease and ulcerative colitis.
