Brick & Brew to Open in Malvern on May 6

Brick & Brew Gastropub, known for its handcrafted cocktails and elevated pub fare, is set to open its third location on May 6 in Malvern. At 5,000 square feet, the new restaurant dwarfs both its Havertown and Media predecessors.
Located on King Street—it took over space formerly occupied by an office complex—owner Tom Kane upped the ante on his creative vision for this latest iteration. Inside, industrial design abounds, with exposed brick walls and steel beams running the length of the dining area. Whiskey barrels hang from the vaulted ceiling and walls, which enhance the restaurant’s “underground distillery” feel, says Marcus Dent, Brick & Brew’s director of marketing.
At the other end of the space, accordion doors give way to an outdoor patio, which offers a mix of community-style banquets and high top tables.

Adding to the restaurant’s eclectic vibes are carefully curated pieces of architectural salvage, sourced from as far west as Texas and as far north as Massachusetts, says Dent. Notable finds include Parisian street lamps, intricate corbels from the Memphis Opera House in Tennessee and poaching baskets from the Gerber Baby Food Factory, which were transformed into hanging light fixtures.
Another design jaw-dropper is the restaurant’s faux greenery wall, which was created by Wayne’s Roots Landscape. It gives “the impression of a live wall that looks like its growing throughout the restaurant,” says Dent.
Unlike Brick & Brew’s other locations, the Malvern restaurant has a private dining room with seating for 14. It will offer an exclusive chef’s tasting menu, as well as a selection of bourbons and whiskeys not available elsewhere in the restaurant.
For all the visual changes, diners can expect a similar dining experience. The Malvern location will have the same menu served in Havertown and Media, but will dish up its own unique weekly specials. Look for 14 tap handles, 11 of which will be rotated on a weekly basis.
Malvern is just the start of the Brick & Brew expansions. According to Dent, the Havertown restaurant will be relocated down the street to a larger space in the foreseeable future. While under construction, the existing Havertown space will remain.
“It looks like it’s a ton of growth, but honestly it’s very methodical,” says Dent of the development. “It’s all very thought out.”
Brick & Brew in Malvern will be open Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to midnight and 11:30 a.m. – 1 a.m. on weekends.
