INSIDE LINE: News & Gossip

» Swan song (the first of many): With the recent announcement that Ardrossan is up for sale, the fate of Robert and Hope Montgomery Scott’s onetime home is suddenly up in air. But on June 6, the stars were shining on the Villanova estate as well-heeled guests mingled among classic automobiles at Motor Cars Under the Stars. The 650-plus attendees raised more than $135,000 for much-needed programs in honor of philanthropist Gerry Lenfest. High-profile attendees included Linda Swain, CBS 3 president and GM Michael A. Colleran, and former NBC 10 anchor Karen Hepp and husband Brian Sullivan. Late-night revelers enjoyed an outdoor showing of The Philadelphia Story.

» Dinner: Impossible? Not for the show’s chef, Robert Irvine, whose June 8 mission was to prepare dinner for Episcopal Academy’s new grads and their guests—625 in all—in less than six-and-a-half hours. After receiving his directive at 1 p.m., Irvine scoured the school’s pantry, raced to the Wynnewood Genuardi’s with $1,500 and, with the help of two sous chefs and five students, produced a buffet dinner that included pepper-crusted salmon with creamed leeks, apple butter sauce and deep-fried vermicelli; portabella mushroom salad with spinach, onions and soy dressing; chicken stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella in an orange butter sauce; and “Queen’s” bread pudding with dried fruits.
