Soldiers' Pride

The Pennsylvania Veterans Museum hosted its first-ever gala at Springfield Country Club April 11, premiering its film on the American humanitarian effort in Vietnam. Guests of honor included Col. Bud Day and Maj. Gen. Pat Brady. A Medal of Honor recipient and America’s highest decorated veteran, Day presented an award to former Gov. Tom Ridge for his support of the museum. Brady honored Dr. Carl Bartecchi with the museum’s Military Humanitarian Award for his service in Vietnam. “To have these three men endorsing our educational program not only expands our program in this area but throughout the country,” says Bob McMahon, mayor of Media and chairman and founding board member of the museum, whose mission is to offer Pennsylvania students a unique perspective on history through the eyes of those who’ve served. —Tara Behan
