Picasso and Friends

Philadelphia Museum of Art's Young Friends’ Winter Gala

The Philadelphia Museum of Art transformed its spectacular Great Stair Hall into an elegant ballroom for the annual Young Friends’ Winter Gala on Feb. 20. This year’s event was among the most highly attended in the program’s history, and the more than 800 guests received a special treat: the unique opportunity to be the first to experience the debut of the much-anticipated exhibition Picasso and the Avant-Garde in Paris, which runs through April 25. The evening kicked off with a special appearance by Mayor Michael Nutter, followed by dancing, raffles and a silent auction. Each year, the Young Friends contribute more than $50,000 to the museum’s acquisitions, conservation and education projects.
