Cake Boss says, “Let Them Eat Cake!”

Buddy Valastro is set to be a celebrity judge at this annual delectable City of Hope fundraiser.

On April 27, City of Hope Philadelphia celebrates the 11th anniversary of its wildly successful fundraiser Let Them Eat Cake. The theme for this year’s cake competition is “Masterpieces of Art” and more than 40 professional pastry chefs and student bakers from throughout the area will be digging deep into their creative bag of tricks to create their own edible, stunning works of art. Attendees will not only be wowed by the creativity of these fondant masters, but they will also be able to sample each of the cakes while enjoying complimentary Korbel champagne. If you prefer wine, you’re in luck. This year’s ticket price also includes a complimentary wine tasting.

“On behalf of City of Hope I am honored to have the support of such incredible pastry artists who are committed to our mission to finally win the war on cancer, HIV/AIDS and diabetes,” says Harry Giordano, Senior Director of Development at City of Hope. “I am humbled that this event which began eleven years ago with six wedding cakes in a small ballroom at a Philadelphia hotel has grown into the premier wedding cake contest in our area attracting a minimum of 1000 attendees annually. It’s creativity beyond your imagination spun from sugar.” It’s fitting that Buddy Valastro best known as Cake Boss on TLC’s hit show is this year’s celebrity judge. Valastro is opening a tenth location of his family’s bakery, Carlo’s Bake Shop, in Philadelphia this spring.
