On April 25, Jim and Sue Walsh will be honored at the 56th annual Man O’War Gala for the 30 years they’ve devoted to Riddle Hospital. Born and raised in Media, the couple remembers when the facility opened in 1964. “We needed a community hospital,” says Jim. “And that’s exactly what Sam Riddle wanted when he donated the land.” Since then, the hospital has expanded, and Jim played an integral part in that as one of the operating partners of Riddle’s Health Center 2 for more than 20 years. He recently retired as partner and general manager of Mercedes-Benz of Devon, and Sue spent 11 years working at Apple Vacations’ Newtown Square headquarters. These days, she has even more time to volunteer at Riddle. “I’ve worked at the information desk for 15 years, and I love it,” Sue says. “It’s a great way to give back to the community and help people.”

La Locanda Ristorante

Delaware County’s best-kept secret: Media Theatre for the Performing Arts. (Sue was an usher there as a teenager.) We enjoy seeing the traditional Broadway shows in this historic theater.

Favorite place for date night: We’re longtime members of Overbrook Golf Club, and we enjoy getting together with friends over drinks and dinner to relive 40 years of golf and special events.

If they had 30 minutes to themselves, they would: (Sue) Work in the garden and be outside, when weather permits; read a good book or magazine, when it doesn’t. (Jim) Take a brisk walk in Ridley Creek State Park, without a baby or a dog.
