On the Ball

An A-list group of heavy-hitters came out May 29 to support Philadelphia Phillies All-Star second baseman Chase Utley and his wife, Jennifer, at the inaugural Utley All-Star Casino Night and Silent Auction benefiting the Pennsylvania SPCA. Converging on one of the hottest event venues in the city, the F.U.E.L. Collection, the Phillies' Cole Hamels, Jimmy Rollins, Ryan Howard, Brett Myers, Shane Victorino and others spent the evening playing poker, blackjack, craps and roulette. Comcast SportsNet's Michael Barkann was the evening's master of ceremonies. The MLB power-couple established Utley All-Star Animals to address the epidemic of animal cruelty. The $200,000 raised at the event will benefit the PSPCA's Etana Fund, which funds and supports animal cruelty law enforcement. —Tara Behan
