Mary Dougherty, owner of Nicole Miller Philadelphia, hosted a luncheon June 3 at Manayunk's Bourbon Blue Restaurant in honor of Helpusadopt.org. Main Line natives Becky and Kipp Fawcett co-founded Helpusadopt.org in 2007, following their own infertility struggle and subsequent adoption process. The national non-profit program helps couples and individuals by offering $500-$15,000 financial grants to cover adoption expenses. The organization awarded its first round of grants—totaling $53,000—to eight recipients in early June. At the luncheon, Becky Fawcett gave a heartwarming presentation, sharing stories of gratitude expressed by the recipients. "All of them were emotional and thanked us profusely for the help," says Fawcett. "The entire organization does know how much this means to our recipients." Guests enjoyed an informal fashion show featuring the latest Nicole Miller designs. Afterward, they shopped for the items they saw in the show at Dougherty's Manayunk boutique. Dougherty donated 10 percent of the day's sales to Helpusadopt.org. —Tara Behan
