In the Drink

Power Water

Adding fruit and more to your oh-so-boring eight glasses a day is a delicious thirst quencher for stifling summer days and an easy way to put a spring into your step. Think oranges, bananas, papayas and apricots, along with herbs and spices like cinnamon, ginger or basil. Packed with vitamins and antioxidants, infused H2O rejuvenates and softens skin, and helps smooth away wrinkles. Apricots moisturize; bananas make a great anti-aging skin restorative; papayas exfoliate and repair. Rich with vitamin C, oranges help shield the skin from harmful UV rays.

For a do-it-yourself, at-home pick-me-up, add fruit slices to a chilled pitcher of water, shake lightly, let stand for a few minutes until the flavor settles, and serve over ice. A tasty combo is cantaloupe and pears with a teaspoon of cinnamon. For the ultimate antioxidant combo, mix strawberries, blueberries and honeydew with basil, or oranges and pineapples with parsley.
