After a home renovation, all that’s left to do is enjoy the new digs—unless, of course, the construction team left behind toxic chemicals. Such was the case for one Main Line family, who fell ill after a remodel. Part of their home had to be completely sealed off. “The builders did everything they could to prevent us from finding the chemicals,” says Tupitza of the case. “We ended up discovering alpha- and beta-pinene (found in turpentine) in concentrations that cause permanent medical conditions or death.”

Arbitration resulted in a six-figure award for the plaintiffs, not to mention a much healthier home.
