Founded by Betsy Wyeth in 1949, the Chadds Ford Art Sale & Show opens on Friday, March 24th with a complimentary reception and continues on Saturday with special events including art tours, children’s art workshops and a conversation with renowned local artist, Karl J Kuerner, III. The event is free and open to the public.
The show’s Featured Artist is Len Garon, an award-winning, versatile artist and educator. Mr. Garon has been participating in the Chadds Ford Art Show for many years and hails from Alexandria, Va. The Donating Artist is Jacalyn Beam. Ms. Beam is a plein air painter who draws much inspiration from the beauty of the Brandywine Valley.
Art Tours - Saturday, March 25h, 11:30 & 2 p.m.: Join guides for free informative tours of the art collection at Chadds Ford Elementary School. The collection includes pieces from artists prominent in the inception and foundation of the Brandywine Tradition and those who further defined the artistic heritage of the area. Learn how the collection and the school interweave into the local history and tradition of art.
Children’s Art Workshops, 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Children are welcome to participate in guided art workshops which will draw inspiration from some of the most popular feature films from the past year. A materials fee will be charged and will range from $15-$25. Workshops will run for approximately 90 minutes and are offered on a first come, first serve basis.
A Conversation with Karl J. Kuerner, III, 1 p.m. Join Mr. Kuerner as he speaks about his life as an artist and his connection to the legendary Wyeth Family. Selected pieces of artwork by Karl J. Kuerner, III will be on display and his books will be available to be sold and signed. This is sure to be a popular event, please arrive promptly as space will be at a premium.
