ACLU100 Pop Up Experience in Philadelphia

Date/Time

May 22, 2019 to May 23, 2019
10:30 AM until 09:00 AM

Description

The American Civil Liberties Union turns 100 in 2020. To mark the historic milestone, the organization is hosting a two-day interactive exhibition at the 23rd St. Armory as part of an interactive exhibition traveling across the country on a national, centennial tour.

The event will bring together artists, community organizations, supporters, and ACLU of Pennsylvania staff to spark a deeper conversation about the challenging, high stakes civil liberties battles of the nation’s past, present, and future.

Visitors will have opportunities to participate in immersive experiences on racial justice, celebrating diversity and inclusivity, voting rights and more.

Attendees will be entertained with musical performances from singer, songwriter and producer Victory Boyd, Philadelphia’s Afro-Brazilian all-women percussion band Batalá, and African jazz musician and Congolese refugee Emmanuel Nsingari. There will also be a Maha Yoga: Peace and Justice Yoga session and volunteer tabling training.
