Bird Walk at Welkinweir

Date/Time

Nov 12, 2017
09:00 AM until 11:30 AM

Description

Join Green Valleys Watershed Association staff and naturalists from the Valley Forge Audubon Society to view the extraordinary annual migration of birds – from tiny hummingbirds to large hawks – as they fly south for the winter. Nestled within Chester County’s scenic East Nantmeal Township, with 197 acres of forest, meadows, waterways, and gardens, Welkinweir provides a crucial rest stop for many of these birds – and offers birders the chance to watch dozens of different species in a beautiful, natural setting. Guides and volunteers lead each walk and can help everyone from beginning birders to experienced enthusiasts with spotting and identifying birds.

Walks begin in the visitor parking lot, located just off of Prizer Road. Paths are unpaved. Rain or shine; dress for the weather. Binoculars and field guides available to borrow. Portable facility is on site. There is no charge for this program, although donations are welcome and support Welkinweir’s programs. Contact Kelsey Stanton at 610-469-4900 or kelsey@greenvalleys.org.  Green Valleys Watershed Association is located at Welkinweir, 1368 Prizer Road, one mile west of Route 100, in East Nantmeal Township.
