The Philadelphia Water Color Society’s 119th Anniversary International Exhibition of Works on Paper opens in the Duke Gallery at Community Arts Center, 414 Plush Mill Road, Wallingford, PA, with an artist reception and awards presentation on Sunday, September 8th, from 2 – 4 p.m. Reception is free and open to the public.
A variety of watercolor, acrylic, pastel, gouache, pen and ink, graphite, charcoal, colored pencil and hand pulled prints were chosen for the exhibition by Juror of Selection Joseph Zbukvic. Judge of Awards Liz Haywood-Sullivan, an award-winning landscape artist dedicated to painting in the pastel medium, selected the winner for the top prize, PWCS Award for Excellence in Works on Paper, as well as winners in other various prize categories. The exhibition runs through October 11th. Gallery hours are Mon.-Thurs. - 9 a.m. - 7:30 p.m., Friday - 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and Saturday - 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Other exhibitions opening on September 8th include the work of CAC’s Outreach Instructors in the Lounge Gallery, the work of CAC’s Outreach Students in the Stairwell and Fay Freedman Galleries and prints by Alvina Ridpath on the BeaDazzle Gallery Wall.
