Description

When you combine award-winning journalism, spoken-word poetry, nationally-featured songcraft, civil liberties, and good food and drinks, what do you get?

The third annual Show the Constitution Some Love: A Night Out with the ACLU of Pennsylvania, held on the night of Friday, February 15 at World Cafe Live.

Our program will feature senior investigative Mother Jones journalist Shane Baueras the keynote speaker. Bauer is the acclaimed author of "American Prison: A Reporter's Undercover Journey into the Business of Punishment," which was one of the New York Times' Top 10 books of 2018 and one of Barack Obama's selections for the best books of the year. Bauer has gone undercover as a prison guard in America's largest privately owned prison, as well as undercover with the border militia.

Join the ACLU of Pennsylvania for a celebration of liberty and justice for all, an affirmation of our commitment to civil rights in uncertain times, and – not least of all – an excellent party.

You will also hear from Philadelphia's youth poet laureate, Wes Matthews, The Babel Poetry Collective, singer Nahla Ward, and words from ACLU-PA Executive Director Reggie Shuford. Heavy hors d'ouevres, beer, wine, and dessert will be served.

We look forward to seeing you there!
