CHADDS FORD, PA:
As part of its mission to bring family-friendly events to its spring event schedule, the Chadds Ford Historical Society (CFHS) introduces a brand-new music festival this year – Valley Jamboree.
This two-day event is scheduled for Saturday, May 18th, from 11 am to 7pm; and Sunday, May 19th, 11am - 5pm. It will be held rain or shine, on the society’s open fields behind the Barn Visitors Center with free parking adjacent to the festival grounds.
Don't miss out on joining us for this relaxed, community music fest right in the heart of Chadds Ford and the Brandywine Valley. There will be food, wine, beer, kids’ activities and artisan booths. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to attend (as long as they are kept on a leash at all times).
While you enjoy a day and evening of nearly continuous music, younger members of the audience are free to explore a range of kid-centric activities. They include a giant 60' house bounce, a petting zoo, a make-your-own crafts tent, as well as lawn games and scavenger hunts.
Explore the displays at the Barn Visitor Center including our new Thrills, Hills and Spills exhibit on Lenape Park and Chadds Peak. The historic c. 1725 John Chads House and the c. 1720 Springhouse will be open for tours.
Saturday’s music lineup includes bands known for their improvisation and enthusiastic stage presence. They include the playful funk-jazz-and rock band, “Green Eggs and Jam,” and the award-winning Indie rock trio, “WaveRadio,” described by critics as “Doors-y” with their “wandering psychedelia” style; and the music of “Special Delivery,” known for their high-energy mix of soul, funk, and rock.
Sunday’s lineup is equally diverse and includes “Sin Brothers,” classic rockers who play everything from Billy Joel to Led Zeppelin;“Steve Liberace”, an acoustic rock artist; and “AfroBear”, a four-piece band that describes itself as “soul-ternative rock” that creates original music blending reggae, hip hop, and blues.
Valley Jamboree is held on the grounds of Chadds Ford Historical Society, 1736 N. Creek Road, Chadds Ford, PA. Free Parking. Seating will be available, but you can bring your own camp chair if you prefer. Plan to spend the day celebrating spring with good music and food!
Tickets are sold at the door and are $15 for adults; $5 for children ages 7 to 17; free for children 6 and under. CFHS members are free with membership card. Visit our website at www.chaddsfordhistory.org
The Chadds Ford Historical Society is a non-profit organization based in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania since 1968. Our Vision is to serve as the gateway between Chadds Ford’s past and present. We operate three historic buildings, the c. 1725 Chads House, the c. 1714 Barns-Brinton House, and the c. 1720 Chads Springhouse as well as the Barn Visitors Center. Proceeds from our events help support the Society’s educational programs and our ongoing research projects on the history of the Chadds Ford area.
