Philadelphia Shell Show Preview Party

Villanova’s Ann and Martin Snyder and Gladwyne’s Susan and Robert Burch co-chaired the first-ever preview cocktail party for the Academy of Natural Sciences’ Philadelphia Shell Show. More than 250 guests got a sneak peek Oct. 10, a day before the event opened to the public. The show featured thousands of the world’s most exotic shells. Artisans displayed shell-themed jewelry and objects inspired by the sea, including exceptional Sailors’ Valentines. The event raised more than $40,000 to benefit the academy and its department of malacology, home to the world’s fourth largest shell collection.
