Reach Out and Read Fundraiser

More than 200 book lovers of all ages found their way to the Residence at the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr Oct. 12 for Reach Out and Read Greater Philadelphia’s annual fundraiser, Read and Romp. The afternoon featured activity booths, games, and arts and crafts based on favorite storybooks. NBC 10’s Dawn Timmeney and Vai Sikahema joined author Judy Schachner (author of the popular Skippyjon Jones series) and others as celebrity readers. The event raised $35,000 to support Reach Out and Read’s mission to make books part of a healthy childhood by targeting low-income kids with the help of doctors and other medical professionals, and advising parents on the importance of reading aloud.
