Décor diva: If sprucing up your home’s interior is one of your resolutions this New Year, it’s never too early to get a jump start. Lisa Furey, owner of The Barefoot Designer in Wayne, is booking clients now for her “Barefoot Express” virtual-design service. The concept is simple: You e-mail Furey a photo of the space, with its dimensions and a brief description of what you want; after a thorough review, she offers her recommendations.

The recession, in part, inspired Furey’s decision to offer additional services to supplement her existing business model. “The down economy has definitely affected the interior design business,” she says. “The Internet has changed the way people want to do business.”

Together, Furey and the client create a plan that can be implemented with or without her help. “Or we can just solve a few decorating dilemmas,” she says. “It’s up to the clients to determine how much detail they’d like.”

The $135 hourly fee can be applied to anything design-related. “The goal is to make interior design affordable and accessible to the masses,” says Furey. “It’s a convenient and practical alternative.”
