For this year’s Top Doctors ranking, we turned to Avvo, a Seattle-based company that rates and profiles medical, dental and legal professionals. Avvo’s proprietary algorithm is based on a 10-point scale, factoring in peer endorsements, along with experience, education, training, research, publishing and awards. The ratings are regularly refreshed online based on new information gleaned from dentists and certifying, licensing and disciplinary boards. Our list includes practitioners rated 8.8 and above at the time of publication.
