Q&A: Carre D’artistes’ Debbie Morton

The Philadelphia-based gallery owner shares her personal style.

Debbie Morton

Her style: Casual chic and understated cool. I identify most with Parisian women’s style because it’s effortless, glamorous and an inspiration to the fashion world.

Style icon: My mother is my fashion icon. She favored Pierre Cardin, Givenchy and Yves St. Laurent for classic women’s wear and was equally chic in blue jeans, a T-shirt and an artistic Pucci scarf.

Winter trends she's wearing: I like to maintain a classic, timeless wardrobe that easily transitions from day to evening and season to season. My favorite look for winter is my skinny jeans with a hand-knit sweater and pair of high-fashion heels.

Favorite splurge: Accessories—with statement jewelry and scarves being my go-to. I love strolling through the Marais and St. Germain, finding hidden boutiques owned by independent local designers.

What every woman needs: Perfect-fitting jeans and matte metallic heels.

Go-to holiday outfit: Parties require sparkles and the opportunity for appropriately low-cut dresses, stilettos and an eye-catching clutch.

Go-to casual outfit for a winter day: I splurged last season on an amazing pair of Prada winter boots. They’re my fashion essential for every winter look.

Most recent addition to her closet: During my family vacation in Greece this past summer, I discovered designer Ioanna Kourbela and purchased several jumpsuits from her Athens boutique.

Favorite item in closet: A Parisian mini-dress I have in three different colors. I wear them all winter long with high heel boots and thick tights.

How art inspires your style: Art and style are interchangeable. One feeds the other.
