That new estate down the road. The posh 55-plus home your friends just bought. The super-sweet Shore house on the beach. Odds are The Pohlig Companies built at least one of them. Cofounder Todd Pohlig has lived in the same Devon home for decades, and Radnor Township is filled with his favorite haunts.

The Main Line’s best-kept secret: Footlighters Theater in Berwyn. It is, I believe, the oldest community theater in the Main Line area. It’s in a converted church building a few blocks south of Lancaster Avenue. The actors are local to the region, and they put on a wide variety of shows. It’s very low-key and entertaining.

Favorite place for date night: My wife, Barbara, and I go to the movies at Bryn Mawr Film Institute. Following that, we often stop at Casey’s Pour House in Berwyn. It’s a local tavern filled with familiar faces.

Valentine’s Day tradition: Every few years, we get a group of our friends together and go to our house in Avalon for Valentine’s Day weekend. It’s great fun having a house full of couples—kind of like The Big Chill. I also buy a single yellow rose for my wife, because yellow is her favorite color. We’ve been married for 37 years, and somewhere along the way, I learned her favorite color. I’m still learning things about her. That’s why she’s my best friend.

Favorite local event: I play drums with a great group of guys in a cover band called Blue Sky. We perform at events held by local charities, and we play pro bono. Over the last 10 years, we’ve helped raise $250,000 for the American Cancer Society, T&E Care, MANNA and other organizations.

Favorite restaurant in the area: Ristorante Primavera in Wayne. The chef creates a fantastic menu of classic Italian cuisine. The wait captain always has the inside scoop on what are the best dishes from the kitchen.

Where he shops for groceries: On Saturday mornings, I pick up a few things at the Lancaster County Farmer’s Market. Of course, I stop at the café in the market for breakfast.

Favorite things to do with his grandchildren: We go to Freedom Playground in Haverford Reserve, roll down the hills at Valley Forge National Historical Park, then finish at Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream in Berwyn.

If he had 30 minutes to himself, he would: I can’t imagine doing any one thing for 30 minutes. But I do pause and check in with myself on a regular basis. In the morning, I think about the good things that can happen that day. At the end of the day, I consider the blessings I have. I’m not a hugely reflective person, but I am a very thankful person.
