» Cash cow: Where’s the (dry-aged) beef? Main Line carnivores and gourmands have quickly discovered the answer: Main Line Prime (18 Greenfield Ave., Ardmore, 610-645-9500), the new high-end specialty market owned and operated by Derek Davis (Derek’s, Sonoma, Kansas City Prime). "Organic and local" highlights include grass-fed beef from Natural Acres in Millersburg; Duroc pork from Iowa; heirloom hogs bred for their juicy, red meat; bacon (and cheese) from Hendricks in Telford; organic and free-range chicken; and Serrano ham. For surf-and-turf in a pinch, there’s sushi-grade tuna, Jersey fluke, rockfish and other local fish in season, scallops, clams casino, and crab cakes.

But MLP’s crème de la crème is animal protein—dry-aged Prime Charolais beef; Jamison lamb from Latrobe; hormone-free veal chops from the Midwest; and $199/pound Japanese Kobe beef only recently made available to retail butchers after a seven-year embargo. You’ll also find organic local cheeses, homemade soups, Éclat chocolates and more.
