» Book on his night stand: Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder, the true story of Dr. Paul Farmer and his quest to cure disease in Haiti and the Third World.

» CD on repeat: Ryan Bingham’s Mescalito—acoustic steel-guitar bluegrass.

» Restaurant of the hour: Christopher’s in Wayne. The food is always good, and the atmosphere is perfect for families.

» Personal heroes: Former President George H.W. Bush. He was my first boss, and I learned from him about integrity, humility and the power of a good sense of humor.

» One thing he knows for sure: Life is short—have no regrets.

» Very own vici: My family. I’m in love with my wife, and my three daughters keep us both grounded and remind us of what’s most important.

» Zen destination: Eagles Mere, Pa. It’s located in the Allegheny Mountains in North Central Pennsylvania, with a spring-fed lake, a terrific golf course and hit-or-miss cell phone and Blackberry coverage that enhances the Zen factor.

» If he had an extra hour each day, he would: Spend it outside with my wife, my children and my dogs.

» Pet peeve: Wasting time.

» Most marked characteristic: Good energy and attitude.

» Life view: chance or fate? I believe that there is a plan, but you have to be opportunistic with the chances you’re given.

» Qualities he admires most in others: Authenticity. I always look forward to working with people who tell it like it is and are comfortable in their own skin. That way, you know where you stand, and typically, you have more fun and get more accomplished.

» Mantra: Take the high road.
