A mix of curiosity and philanthropy led more than 450 guests to Maia Market and Restaurant in Villanova May 3 for the Maia Cares fundraiser. Getting their first look at the highly anticipated Scott Morrison venture, party-goers sampled items from the Maia menu while sipping signature cocktails and craft beers from Victory Brewing Company. In addition to Main Line Health, the event benefited the Elite Companies Charitable Foundation, which supports smaller grassroots organizations dedicated to improving the lives of families in the Philadelphia area, and Breastcancer.org. The latter's founder, Marissa Weiss spoke at the event, emphasizing the crucial role her site has played in the lives of so many women and their families. The Maia Cares benefit was produced by Deb Connor Events. The $42,000 raised will be distributed among the three charities. —Tara Behan
