79th Radnor Hunt Races

An estimated 20,000 steeplechase fans celebrated the unofficial start of their summer social calendars May 16 at the 79th Radnor Hunt Races in Malvern. Throughout the cloudy but comfortable afternoon, a festive crowd cheered on their picks as riders and horses bounded over timber fences and other hurdles on the W. Burling Cocks Memorial Racecourse. Apart from the six races and an elegant antique carriage parade, there was plenty of action to be found on Radnor Hunt’s rolling hillsides at the numerous tailgate picnics and lavishly catered corporate sponsor tents. All money raised went to the land and water preservation programs of the Brandywine Conservancy in Chadds Ford.
