Wedding and Specialty Cakes >>> Bella’s Desserts
Whether you’re a classic, contemporary, quirky or cupcake-style couple, Bella’s Lauren Cortesi can create the perfect wedding cake. Choose from a wide variety of frostings, fillings and cake flavors, including vegan and gluten-free options. Bella’s artistic specialty cakes also sing. Is the birthday boy or girl a Phillies fan? Wine List >>> Margaret Kuo’s
Besides having excellent Chinese food, this popular Wayne eatery has one of the best wine lists in the area. With more than 175 labels from around the globe and 40 types of sake, Margaret and husband Warren (who’s formally trained in wine education) take great pride in providing diners with an eclectic selection without the huge mark-up typical of many restaurants. It’s ambitious—and that’s what makes it tops. 175 E. Lancaster Ave., Wayne; (610) 688-7200, margaretkuos.com.
Worth the Drive >>> Funky Lil’ Kitchen
Pottstown isn’t exactly known for its cutting-edge dining scene, but chef Michael Falcone’s small and, yes, funky modern American BYO is reason enough to make the 30-minute trek down route 422. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by Falcone’s clever take on seasonal cuisine—so seasonal, in fact, that he often doesn’t know what the menu will be that night until he gets back from the farmers market. Delicious from start to finish, with top-notch service to boot. 232 King St., Pottstown; (610) 326-7400, funkylilkitchen.com.
