World Café Live will host Daymond John from ABC's “Shark Tank”

Five businesses will pitch their ideas to experts and a live audience for a chance to win $20,000.

On Thursday, July 16, Daymond John from ABC's “Shark Tank” is coming to Philly to hear five entrepreneurs pitch for a chance to win $20,000. The semifinalist who comes out on top will advance to the national finals where they will compete for a grand prize of $200,000.

John will be participating as part of the Miller Lite Tap the Future, a competition that helps entrepreneurs fulfill their original ideas. The event will take place at World Café Live in front of a panel of business experts and a live audience.

In addition, three lucky attendees will be randomly selected to pitch their ideas on the spot. John and the crew of judges will provide their expert advice and will award the best pitch $500.

The five businesses competing include Empire of Kingz of Washington, D.C.; Nightingale Apps LLC of Boston, Mass.; Perfect Produce PGH of North Huntingdon, Pa.; SolBid Inc of Boston, Mass.; and Girls Auto Clinic of Montchanin, Del.

Judging alongside John will be Chris Cera, founder and CEO of Philly-based Arcweb, and Ben Lamson and Su Sanni, friends and co-owners of WeDidIt.

“Having done my fair share of business pitching and evaluating the pitches of others, I’ve gathered a lot of expertise in this area that I always like passing along to the emerging entrepreneurs in this competition,” says John.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m., with a press briefing with John and the other judges. The doors open to the public at 7 p.m., and the teams present their pitches at 7:30 p.m.

The event is open to those 21 and older who RSVP at www.MLTapTheFuture.com. Miller Lite will host five additional live pitch events in Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles and Miami. The winners from each market will present before a national panel of judges in September and one team will win the grand prize of $200,000.
