Next Gen 2019: Sydnie Bayles
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation 2018 Lemonade Stand Host of the Year
From the age of 2, Sydnie Bayles has wanted to make the world a better place. After her grandmother’s passing, her family was at an event where they met Jay Scott, co-executive director of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. The young Bayles immediately chimed in, saying she wanted to sell lemonade to help raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer research. Encouraged by her parents, she opened her first lemonade stand in Downingtown.
In the past 13 years, Bayles has raised over $219,000 for the organization, even establishing a stand as part of the weekly Eagleview Town Center summer concert series. Last year, she was recognized as the Lemonade Stand Host of the Year. “I get my friends and anybody who wants to help out, and sometimes I’ll give speeches to companies about Alex’s,” says Bayles.
A student at Downingtown S.T.E.M. Academy, Bayles balances her altruistic endeavors with a rigorous school schedule and soccer. “It’s a lot of time management,” says Bayles, who remains steadfast in her goal “to help find a cure for cancer, no matter how much it takes.”
