The year’s most anticipated society event took place Jan. 24 as thousands dressed in dapper white ties and gorgeous ball gowns made their way to the Academy of Music for its 152nd Anniversary Concert and Ball. Maestro Christoph Eschenbach and the Philadelphia Orchestra entertained the crowd before Grammy-winning singer/songwriter James Taylor took the stage. Native Philadelphian Blythe Danner narrated a short film shown before the concert that highlighted the architecture and history of the revered cultural institution. After the show, guests headed to the Park Hyatt Philadelphia at the Bellevue for the gala. Proceeds from the event benefit the Academy of Music Restoration Fund and the Philadelphia Orchestra Association.
