Frida Kahlo

At the Philadelphia Museum of Art

Mexican artist Frida Kahlo may be known as much for her “adventuresome artistic, sexual and political identity” as she is for her art. Her work conveys intense physical and emotional pain, much of it due to a devastating bus accident in 1925 and her inability to bear children. This retrospective includes portraits, self-portraits and still lifes, along with photos of Kahlo and her husband, famed muralist Diego Rivera. Through May 18. 26th Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia; (215) 763-8100, philamuseum.org.
