Save at least half a day for this journey through 35 centuries (and more than 45,000 items) of glass history, art and industry at the Corning Museum of Glass. There are plenty of live glassworking demos and all kinds of hands-on exhibits to keep everyone, including the kids, engaged. You can even make your own project—anything from an ornament to a wind chime. The international GlassMarket, the museum’s retail shop, has everything from haute décor showpieces to moderately priced jewelry and home items. $15; 19 and under free. 1 Museum

The Rockwell Museum of Western ArtThe Rockwell Museum of Western Art has the largest collection of 19th-century to contemporary western art, including Native American paintings and sculptures, in the eastern United States. $8; 19 and under free. 111 Cedar St., Corning, (607) 937-5386, rockwellmuseum.org.

Twenty-three vintage aircraft, mostly military from World War II to present, are on display at Wing of Eagles Discovery Center.
