Q&A: Zoya Egan Millinery’s Zoya Egan
The Berwyn-based hat designer shares her personal style.
Favorite designers: Bottega Veneta for the dramatic image and Carolina Herrera for her elegant, ladylike style.
Spring fashions she's wearing: Velvet jacket—belted, of course—and heavily embellished mules.
Style icons: Catherine Deneuve, Coco Chanel and Jackie Kennedy.
Go-to casual outfit for a typical Saturday out: Beige slacks with a white shirt, and a feminine, bright-colored jacket.
Go-to outfit for a Saturday night in the city: A midi dress, suede Manolo Blahnik pumps, and a statement jewelry piece from a designer like Alexis Bittar.
Favorite item in her closet: My T.ba black wool coat.
Item in her closet that gets the most use: My CH Carolina Herrera red-and-black sequin purse.
Dream item: An Alexander McQueen dress. Not just a dress—a haute couture “wow” dress.
What she loves most about being a milliner: I’m a creative person. Some people express themselves through painting or sculpting, I express my creativity through millinery. It’s also very satisfying to work with my clients in creating their personal and unique look.
Her advice for women who want to add a hat to their race day ensemble: Don’t be afraid to go a bit over the top. But keep it classy.
