What to Wear to a Steeplechase Race, According to Three Main Line Boutique Owners
From floral midi dresses to crisp white jeans, these local fashionistas dish on the best looks for equestrian events.
Some of the year’s biggest fashion moments will take place this month at equestrian events like the Willowdale Steeplechase (May 13), Radnor Hunt Races (May 19), and Ladies’ Hat Day at the Devon Horse Show (May 30). We asked three local boutique owners for their insights on what to wear.
Diane Oliva, owner of Ellie in Wayne’s Eagle Village Shops, sees nothing wrong with going more casual on race day. “We love the idea of wearing a beautiful Bailey 44 top with a pair of white jeans from our favorite denim line, Parker Smith Denim,” she says. “Finish with some accessories and cute wraedges.”

If you have your heart set on a springtgime frock, there are plenty of options at Gingy’s in Malvern. “We love the Mahi Gold pink- and-blue printed dress because it’s very comfortable,” says co-owner Jean Tremblay.
“Floral midi dresses are one of 2018’s biggest trends,” says Tina Corrado of Malvern’s Posh Collections. “Pair one with denim strappy sandals by Schutz for an unexpected twist.”
