Stretching west from the eastern border of Delaware County, Haverford Township includes chunks of Ardmore, Bryn Mawr, Drexel Hill and Wynnewood, plus Havertown, which has always boasted a large Irish-American population—and has the pubs to prove it. But it was Welsh Quakers who founded the township in 1681 after buying the land from William Penn. The township is an amalgamation of neighborhoods, including Lynnewood Park, Westgate Hills, Llanerch, Manoa, Oakmont, Coopertown, Brookline and Hilltop.
